Where should I install the DPOL®?
In ports, floating pollutants usually gather in corners where wind and currents push them.
You should place the DPOL® where debris naturally accumulates to maximize its collection performance.
Since it’s lightweight and easily movable without equipment, its position can be changed at any time. Its compact size means it won’t take up dock space or interfere with boat maneuvers.
How do I install the DPOL®?
The DPOL® weighs 31 kg and can be carried by two people.
It’s deployed by lowering or tossing it from a dock or a boat. Then, simply secure it in place—under a pontoon or in a corner—by tying it with a rope.
How do I start the DPOL®?
Once in place and moored, just plug it into a power source to start the depollution process.
It requires very low power, so it can also run via a generator if no electrical network is available.
What kind of pollution can I collect with the DPOL®?
DPOL® is suitable for collecting floating debris under 120 cm in size: plastics, cans, cigarette butts, cardboard, plant matter, algae… It can also be used in the event of hydrocarbon spills.
How can I collect hydrocarbons?
Our tests conducted at CEDRE® led us to create an optional kit specifically designed for collecting surface hydrocarbons with the DPOL®. The kit includes:
1 heavy-duty fine mesh net
85 L of absorbent “spaghetti” to place inside the net
1 absorbent floating boom with skirt to contain the pollution around the DPOL® and speed up collection
How do I empty the DPOL®?
When the net is full, pull on the soft handle—either by hand or with a boathook—to lift it out. Then unplug the power supply.
Dispose of the net’s contents in a bin appropriate for the collected waste. The net is reusable.
If the net feels heavy, wait a few seconds for it to drain before lifting it.

One DPOL® or several?
You can use a single DPOL®, or deploy several to form a barrier and increase collection capacity in a specific area.
The size and layout of your port, and especially the quantity of waste to be collected, will determine what’s best.
The recommended setup is one DPOL® for every 500 moorings.
Do I need to remove the DPOL® from the water every day?
No, the DPOL® is designed to stay in the water continuously, as long as the pump is running.
If not operating, it should be removed to prevent fouling.
Its design ensures that polluted water does not pass through the pump.
It should be cleaned at least twice a month to avoid the buildup of aquatic organisms that could reduce its performance.
You should also regularly check the net fill level to maximize collection. Our clients empty their nets anywhere from twice a day to once a week.
Can I use the DPOL® without a net?
Yes. Without a net, the DPOL® generates a strong current that can push floating debris, algae, or vegetation out of the way—useful for clearing a path, for example.
Can I install the DPOL® under a dock?
Yes, absolutely. Its low height allows it to fit under most docks and in tight areas.
What maintenance does the DPOL® require?
You’ll need to replace the two anodes once a year.
The DPOL® should be taken out of the water twice a month for cleaning—with a sponge, brush, or pressure washer depending on its condition.
Maintenance is kept as simple as possible.
How should I store the DPOL®?
If you won’t be using your DPOL® for a while, store it properly to keep it in good condition: out of direct sunlight and away from sea spray.
DPOL® units can be stacked on top of each other.
Can I use the DPOL® for communication?
Yes! To highlight your environmental commitment, we provide several options:
The DPOL® comes standard with two 20 mm flag holders.
Optional accessories include beachflags, signs to install on the dock, or plates to attach directly to the DPOL®.
These accessories also help to make the DPOL® more visible to users and prevent collision risks.
Is the DPOL® fragile?
As of summer 2025, over 200 DPOL® units are in use—and not a single one has been taken out of service.
It is extremely robust: impact-resistant, wear-resistant, and corrosion-proof.
Can the DPOL® move on the water?
Yes, the DPOL® can move across the water surface, but it’s not a drone. You can steer it manually, like a kite, using the two mooring lines.
To reach more distant pollution, we also offer several power cord extensions.
Is it difficult to take the DPOL® out of the water?
The Classic and HD versions can be removed easily without lifting equipment.
Weighing around 30 kg, two people can handle the operation quickly.
However, the DPOL Max and its net require lifting equipment with a capacity of 500 kg or more.
